Dr. Gwendolyn Hooper has worked in a variety of nursing positions throughout her lifetime but found urology nursing to be her passion. Dr. Hooper has extensive clinical experience in urology. Her career has focused on raising awareness and improving the care and quality of life of men with prostate cancer and the education and treatment of women with pelvic floor disorders.
Dr. Hooper received her training at the University of Kentucky in the Department of Urology. She was the first nurse practitioner to serve in the department. Together with her attending physician and mentor Dr. Deborah Erickson they developed the role of the urology nurse practitioner in the department which now currently employs six nurse practitioners.
Dr. Hooper joined the University of Alabama Capstone College of Nursing in 2014 where she is an Associate Professor.
